Dr. Evan Watts is a board-certified orthopaedic surgeon at Oak Valley Health (Markham Stouffville Hospital), specializing in joint replacement, ACL reconstruction, arthroscopy, trauma, and sports injuries.
A Surgeon Committed to Restoring Motion & Quality of Life
Dr. Evan Watts is an orthopaedic surgeon practising at Oak Valley Health's Markham Stouffville Hospital, where he operates within the Orthopaedic Joint Assessment Centre (OJAC) — Ontario's first hospital to deliver orthopaedic care under the Ministry of Health's Rapid Access Centre model.
Trained at Warwick Medical School (UK), he completed his residency at the University of Toronto and his fellowship at Mount Sinai Hospital. His practice is built on evidence-based technique, minimally invasive approaches, and a commitment to day-surgery protocols that get patients home and healing sooner.
Dr. Watts is a consultant for Stryker Orthopaedics and employs the latest implant technology to optimize long-term outcomes. He uses a direct anterior (bikini incision) approach for total hip arthroplasty, and offers a comprehensive range of procedures for knee, hip, and sports-related conditions.
Outside the operating room, Dr. Watts lives on a hobby farm with his wife — a paediatrician — their six children, and a golden retriever. This grounding in family life informs the compassionate, patient-centred approach he brings to every consultation.

Dr. Watts uses the direct anterior approach (DAA) for total hip arthroplasty — often called the "bikini incision" technique — which accesses the hip joint through a natural interval between muscles, rather than cutting through them.
No detachment of major muscles reduces postoperative pain and speeds functional recovery
Preserved soft tissue envelope provides inherent stability without restrictive precautions for most patients
Many patients return home the same day, reducing hospital-associated risks
